Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is one of Uganda’s top destinations for gorilla trekking and wildlife adventures. Located in Kisoro District in southwestern Uganda, the park lies within the spectacular Virunga Mountains and forms part of the larger Virunga Conservation Area.
The park is best known for mountain gorilla trekking, offering visitors the opportunity to hike through beautiful bamboo and montane forests in search of endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. The experience combines wildlife viewing with breathtaking volcanic scenery.
The gorilla trekking permit is US$800 per person for foreign non-residents, US$700 for foreign residents, and UGX 300,000 for East African citizens. Permit fees are subject to change according to Uganda Wildlife Authority regulations.
